In today’s real estate market it is very hard to survive. Real estate agents do not get paid unless they sell a property. Even after selling the property they only receive a portion of the commission. Not to mention the fees, fees, fees! Needless to say, I am watching as friend after friend leaves the business because they cannot support themselves in this very slow market…and our market in North Carolina is better than most in the country!!! (I cannot imagine the struggle that those realtors, elsewhere, are going through!)
I have been very lucky. (Don’t get me wrong…I work very hard.) But I do believe that the majority of the credit for my sales record during this slow market goes to the angel on my shoulder. (It is August and I have had 4 listings that have sold since March. Two of them received an offer, resulting in a sale, after two months and two of them received an offer, resulting in a sale, after two days!!!) See what I mean…angel on my shoulder!

Over the past year and a half, my life has changed very much. I saw an episode of Oprah that featured a movie called The Secret. I said to myself, “That makes sense. I need to rent that movie.”
The first time I watched it, I was very skeptical. (I watched it 5 times in a row.) The more times I watched it, the more it made sense. In one part of the movie they tell you to stop expecting to see bills in the mail…start expecting checks! So, laughingly, my husband and I would ask each other everyday, “Did you check the mailbox, because I’m expecting a check?” And we would laugh! We did that almost everyday for a month. The next month, we received 4 extra checks! Honest to goodness! We couldn’t believe it!
So that got us going in our quest of The Secret. It basically states that what you put out into the world is what you get back. But it goes a step further than “do unto others…” It includes feeling the joy of having what you want before you actually obtain it, being grateful for receiving those things before you actually receive them, and always thinking positive (so much more difficult than it sounds!)
I bought the movie and later bought the book. But, in my opinion, the movie has much more impact. So if you need a boost or just want to change things, check it out!

I’m a firmly believe The Secret’s messages. The Secret was sent to me by a friend in Kansas City. He said this could change my life, so of course I was skeptical. A movie is going to chage my life, yeah right.
I’m not going to say it changed my life, because I already believed alot of the teachings in The Secret, but I had a lot of AAHHHAA moments! One thing that I remember distictly is the thought that you become the people around you. I dropped some “friends” soon after thinking that through and I also started working harder with my “good friends” who actually supply me with good energy and happiness. That sounds soooooooo simple and RIGHT to me that I can’t believe it took a movie to make me realize how powerful that really can be.
I could go on and on about The Secret as I am sure Dawn could as well but I encourge you to watch it and tell us your thougts.
